Motion Sickness
Multimedia installation, as part of Oros Orob, Art Licks Weekend (UK), 2015
Motion sickness describes two phenomena—feeling motion without seeing it and seeing motion without feeling it. Motion graphics, made to seem more real by mimicking actual physics, are subtly exaggerated. These hyper-real movements are simulated in such a nuanced way that people have reported feeling nauseous. A mismatch between the motion they see and the motion they feel. Motion sickness reveals how we are embedded in a phenomenal world, but a world in which seeing and feeling are technologically augmented in, at times, nausea inducing ways.
